First impressions

Today, the European Children’s Summit started. After a tour through the city at 7 p.m. the official part of the Summit began. The coordinator, Tobias Thiele, welcomed us and presented the slogan and most important rule of the summit: “Children talk – adults listen!”

That will be exactly the main focus during the next five days. Young people will discuss problems of Europe and will try to find solutions together.
Afterwards the President of the Youth Committee of Karlsruhe, Chris Klinger, greeted us. Than, Nina Bartz (National Board of Young Naturefriends Germany) gave us some information about the eponym of the youth center, Anne Frank. Anne was a Jewish girl, who was killed in a concentration camp in Germany during the Nazi regime. Young Naturefriends Germany is convinced that an event like the Children’s Summit will make a contribution to a peaceful Europe.
